Fashion, food & design destination: San Miguel de Allende

¡Hola mis amores! Les escribo desde Los Ángeles, feliz después de haber estado el fin de semana pasado en San Miguel de Allende, uno de mis lugares favoritos en México. Como fanática de la moda, el arte, el diseño y la gastronomía, les quiero platicar sobre un concepto que está increíble porque reúne todo esto en un mismo espacio: Dôce 18 Concept House. 

Hi my loves! I'm currently in LA and writing you this post after having an amazing weekend in San Miguel de Allende, one of my favorite places in Mexico. As a big fan of fashion, art, design and gastronomy, I want to talk about a concept that is incredible as it brings all of this together in the same space: Dôce 18 Concept House.

Desde el momento en el que llegué a la que todavía es conocida localmente como la “Casa Cohen”, amé ver cómo el pasado se fusiona con el presente y lo tradicional con lo contemporáneo en un mismo edificio. Antes de ser este espacio dedicado a mostrarle al mundo la diversidad creativa y apoyar el talento nacional e internacional, esta casa era una comercializadora (literalmente) de telas, perfumes, velas y muchos otros alimentos hasta que se convirtió en una fábrica de muebles, mosaicos y accesorios. Años después, Roy y Sally Azar la seleccionaron como venue para esta nueva propuesta que es única en nuestro país. Además de platicarles sobre la historia de este lugar, me gustaría compartirles más sobre lo que pueden encontrar en Dôce 18 Concept House y qué es lo que más me gustó. 

From the moment I arrived at what is still known locally as the "Casa Cohen", I fell in love with the building. Before being a platform dedicated to show the world the creative diversity and support national and international talent, this house was a market place (literally) that sold fabrics, perfumes, candles and many other foods until it became a furniture factory, mosaics and accessories. Years later, Roy and Sally Azar selected it as a venue for this new proposal that is unique in Mexico. After telling you about the history of this place, I would like to share more about what you can find in Dôce 18 Concept House and what I liked the most about it.

Ya saben que mi amor por la comida y todo lo que gira alrededor de ella, es infinito jaja. Algunos de los lugares que están en esta plataforma son:

Spice Market

Lo primero que pude ver cuando llegamos, fue este lugarcito que tiene las mejores mezclas de especias, condimentos y semillas. Es lo máximo para comprar aderezos, infusiones y sales.

The first thing I saw when we arrived, was this little place that had the best mixtures of spices, condiments and seeds. Here you can buy dressings, infusions and salt.

Jacinto 1930

Además de tener una decoración súper cool que hace referencia a las típicas cocinas mexicanas de antaño, la comida que está inspirada en el maíz y sus miles de formas de prepararse, es una delicia. 

Its decoration is a tribute to the typical Mexican cuisine and the food is inspired by the corn and its various cooking methods. 

Panio

Ya saben que no puedo vivir sin café y que tampoco puedo resistirme a una pieza de pan. Antes de salir a caminar, pasábamos por americano a este lugar es que una de las mejores panaderías y reposterías de México y que nació de San Miguel de Allende. 

I can't live without coffee and bread. Before going for a walk, we ate at this place and is one of the best bakeries and pastry shops in Mexico and that was created in San Miguel de Allende.

¿Hay algo más cool que un lugar en el que puedes hacer una cata de tés? Aquí tuve la oportunidad de probar lo que ya conocía de una forma diferente y guiada por un experto.

Is there anything better than a place where you can have a tea tasting? Here I had the opportunity to try what I already knew in a different way while being guided by an expert.

WEAR

El clima de San Miguel es delicioso. Se presta perfecto para usar esa ropa que no te puedes poner en la ciudad. Mis prendas favoritas para lucir en estas calles coloniales son los vestidos boho chic (que van súper ad hoc con la esencia de la ciudad), camisas  bordadas, botines, sombreros y lentes de sol. Busca combinar tus vestidos o faldas con denim. 

The weather in San Miguel is great. It is sunny but not too hot. Perfect for wearing the clothes you can not use in the city. My favorite looks are boho chic dresses, embroidered blouses, boots, hats and sunglasses. You can combine them with denim. 

SHOP

Y hablando de moda, Dôce 18 Concept House tiene un espacio en el que exhibe las creaciones de los mejores diseñadores mexicanos e internacionales que comenzaron sus marcas en San Miguel de Allende. Además de tener una Pop-Up Store con diseñadores invitados como mi amado Kris Goyri, Sandra Weil o Raquel Orozco, tienen otras marcas como de joyería y accesorios increíbles como Armour, Recreo o Blackfin.

And speaking of fashion, Dôce 18 Concept House has a space in which it exhibits the creations of the best Mexican and international designers who started their brands in San Miguel de Allende. In addition to having a Pop-Up Store with guest designers like my beloved Kris Goyri, Sandra Weil and Raquel Orozco, they have other brands that sell jewelry and other incredible accessories such as Armor, Recreo and Blackfin.

SLEEP

En la planta alta de este lugar están 10 habitaciones con un diseño único. ¿Vieron la increíble alberca en mis stories? Además, la ubicación es súper céntrica ya que está a unos minutos del Museo Histórico de San Miguel cerquita de la Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel.

I stayed at L’Ôtel, Dôce18 Concept House. It has 10 rooms and suites with a unique design, located at the top floor of the iconic Cohen House. Did you see the pool in my Instagram stories? Also, there is a Concept House where you can find art, design, fashion, and of course, food.

Si quieren un fin de semana relajado, pero lleno de historia y cultura, además de comida deliciosa jaja, no duden en visitar San Miguel de Allende.  ¡Les va a fascinar!

Las razones que te harán valorar más tu Domingo

¡Feliz domingo, mis amores! Seguramente ustedes también han conocido algunas personas que creen que para tener éxito laboralmente, hay que renunciar a la vida personal. En mi experiencia, les puedo decir que para hacer realidad lo que nos proponemos sí hay que trabajar muy duro pero también es necesario lograr equilibrar ambos para saborear nuestros logros. Hoy les hice este post para platicarles por qué disfrutar de un buen domingo les hará tener más pila y ser más productivos mañana. Espero que les guste. 

Happy Sunday, my loves! Have you also met some people who believe that in order to succeed at work, we have to give up our personal lives? I think that to achieve great things we have to work very hard but it is also necessary to balance both to have a chance to enjoy our achievements. Today I wrote this post to tell you why enjoying this Sunday will make you have more energy, avoid depression and be more productive tomorrow.

It is a good time to be with the people we love.

We all need the love, affection and support of our family and friends. No matter how busy we think we are, we need others. Enjoy every moment with them without putting up resistance! I'm sure that you'll live good experiences and you'll make great memories.

Un buen desayuno: Ya saben que esta es de mis partes favoritas del día y algunos de mis restaurantes favoritos para desayunar son el Carolo, Lalo y Ojo de Agua. El café es delicioso y también los bowls.  

I recommend you

A good breakfast: You already know that this is one of my favorite parts of the day and some of my favorite restaurants for breakfast are Carolo, Lalo and Ojo de Agua. The coffee is delicious and also fruit bowls. 

Comer rico: Si como yo amas los mariscos y el sushi el Japonez, el Contramar o La Docena son una gran opción para pasar el día en familia o con amigos. 

Eat good food: If you love seafood and sushi like me, Contramar, La Docena and El Japonez are great to spend the day with family or friends.

Cerrar el día con un helado: Uff!! De solo escribirlo y pensarlo se me antojo uno. Me gustan mucho Roxy, Ice Cream Nation o Joselo porque puedes llegar caminando y comértelo viendo el parque de enfrente. 

Have an ice cream: I really like Roxy, Ice Cream Nation and Joselo because you can walk and eat your dessert at the same time while watching the park in front of you.

Es perfecto para olvidar el estrés. 

Tener tiempo de calidad contigo, te ayudará a sentirte sano, tranquilo y feliz. Hoy, asegúrate de darte un espacio en el día para terminar tus pendientes personales, ir de shopping o descansar.

Having quality time will help you feel healthy, calm and happy. Today make sure you finish your personal errands, go shopping or just relax.

Salir a correr o caminar: El parque La Mexicana me encanta porque además de ser un gran lugar para hacer ejercicio, encuentras café y cosas deliciosas a la mitad del camino jajaja. También amo Commando, Siclo y Beatbox. 

I recommend you

Going for a run or walk: I really enjoy going to La Mexicana because besides being a great place to exercise, you find coffee and delicious things hahaha. I also love Commando, Siclo and Beatbox. 

Darte un masaje: Hay muchos que me gustan pero los de Hela Spa o los del Spa de Liverpool y el St. Regis son ricos por sus técnicas relajantes y por sus instalaciones. 

Getting a massage: There are many that I like but those that Hela Spa, St, Regis or Liverpool Spa offer, have relaxing techniques and great facilities.

Ir al salón de belleza: Me encantan muchísimos pero si lo que buscas es que te consientan con un buen manicure y pedicure, Handlab, Orange Theory o Siete30 son de mis lugares favoritos. 

Going to the beauty salon: If you're looking for a good manicure and pedicure, Handlab, Orange Theory or Siete30 are some of my favorite places.

Es el mejor día para dormir bien. 

Tengo que aceptar que a veces me cuesta trabajo dormir bien y por eso este tema es una de mis prioridades. Lo mejor que puedes hacer es planear irte a dormir y despertarte a una hora específica. Calcula cuántas horas de sueño necesitas y quédate con ese número hasta que las cumplas. No hay nada mejor que empezar la semana después de haber descansado. 

It is the best day to sleep well.

Sometimes I don't sleep well and that is why this is one of my priorities. The best thing you can do is plan to go to sleep and wake up at a specific time. Calculate how many hours of sleep you need and keep that number until you get them. There is nothing better than starting the week after having a good night's sleep.

Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams

Todo el mundo está hablando de esta retrospectiva porque será la más grande desde Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty y contará la historia del diseñador desde 1947 hasta hoy. Me muero de ganas de ver los 200 vestidos de alta costura que se exhibirán ahí además de la sección que estudia el amor de Dior por la cultura británica.

¿Dónde? En el Museo Victoria & Albert de Londres.

¿Cuándo? El 2 de febrero de 2019.

Everyone is talking about this retrospective because it'll be the largest since Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty and will tell the story of the brand from 1947 to today. I'm dying to see the 200 haute couture dresses that will be exhibited there as well as the section that studies the designer's love for British culture.

Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination

Además de ser muy famosas por la MET Gala en la que todas las celebridades llevan sus looks más extravagantes (literalmente), la exposición estudia la relación entre la creatividad y la imaginación religiosa con la industria de la moda y las tradiciones del catolicismo.

¿Dónde? En el Museo de Arte Metropolitano de Nueva York

¿Cuándo? Del 10 de mayo al 8 de octubre de 2018

Besides being well known for the MET Gala in which all celebrities wear their most extravagant looks (literally), the exhibition studies the relationship between creativity and religious imagination with the fashion industry and the traditions of Catholicism.

Fashioned from Nature

Esta exposición me llama la atención porque cuenta la relación que ha existido entre la moda y la naturaleza desde 1600 hasta la actualidad. Me parece una buena forma de crear conciencia sobre todas esas marcas que usan piel animal para hacer sus prendas o accesorios y las consecuencias ambientales.

¿Cuándo? Del 21 de abril de 2018 al 27 de enero de 2019.

This exhibition explores the relationship between fashion and nature from the 1600’s to the present day. I think it's a good way to raise awareness about all those brands that use animal skin to make their clothes or accessories and the environmental consequences.

Frida Kahlo's Wardrobe

Me fascina esta colección que viaja desde México para exhibir colección de prendas de vestir y objetos personales que alguna vez pertenecieron a Frida Kahlo. Me parece irreal que todo el mundo pueda conocer el estilo ecléctico y el amor por el color de artista mexicana,que ha servido para inspirar a muchos diseñadores y artistas. 

¿Dónde? En el Museo Victoria & Albert en Londres.

¿Cuándo? Del 16 de junio al 4 de noviembre de 2018.

I love that this collection travels from Mexico City to London to showcase a collection of clothing and personal artifacts which once belonged to Frida Kahlo. Now everyone can see her eclectic style and how this has been useful to inspire many designers and artists.

Dior from Paris to the World

¿Dónde? En el Museo de Arte en Colorado

Más de 70 años de la maison son narrados en esta muestra que se centra en los diseños de Christian Dior hasta la actual directora artística de Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri.

More than 70 years of the maison are narrated in this exhibition that focuses on the Christian Dior designs to the current Dior artistic director, Maria Grazia Chiuri.

Celebrating new beginnings!

¡Hola, mis amores! Estoy feliz de contarles que últimamente mi vida es una cadena interminable de nuevos comienzos. Todo esto es muy emocionante, pero a veces agotador. Hace unos días me cambié de depa en LA y literal fue una locura. Nunca pensé que tuviera tantas cosas que organizar pero bueno, después de estrenar una nueva segunda casa, ¡es hora de celebrar!

Hi my loves! I'm happy to tell you that lately my life has been an endless chain of new beginnings. All of this is very exciting, but sometimes exhausting. A few days ago I moved in LA and it was literally crazy. I never thought I had so many things to organize but, after settling in my new second home, it's time to celebrate!

Hoy me gustaría darles las gracias por apoyarme en cada etapa de mi vida y platicarles todo lo que he aprendido de estos cambios. 

Today I would like to thank you for supporting me at every stage of my life and tell you what I've learned from these changes.

Forgive & forget

Para empezar de nuevo, es básico aprender de las lecciones del pasado y olvidar siempre recordando qué no repetir y qué vale la pena volver a vivir.

To start over you have to learn lessons from the past and forget. Always remember what not to repeat and what is worth living again.

Be peaceful

Aunque parezca difícil, trata de mantener la calma. He comprobado mil veces que entre más tranquila esté tu mente, más productivo puede llegar a ser. Amo hacer ejercicio porque me ayuda a eliminar la tensión y el estrés. Te recomiendo que busques algo que te gusté y te relaje. ¡Deja ir y verás lo feliz que puedes llegar a ser! 

Although it may seem difficult, try to stay calm. I've proven this a thousand times that the more calm your mind is, the more productive you can become. I love to exercise because it helps me eliminate tension and stress. Look for something that you like and relax. Let go and you will see how happy you can be!

Un paso más para avanzar y abrir un nuevo capítulo es aceptar todo eso que no puedes cambiar. Aceptate a ti, tu vida, tus circunstancias y trata de hacer lo mejor con lo que tienes.

One more step to move forward and start over is to accept all that you can't change. Accept yourself, your life, your circumstances and try to do the best with what you have.

Be possitive

Desde siempre trato de ser feliz en todo momento y mantener mis expectativas altas. Para lograrlo, mi secreto está en no obligarme a cumplir cosas que no me gustan pero sí tratar de verle el lado positivo a cualquier situación. Hoy te puedo decir que el estar rodeada de gente positiva que siempre busca dar lo mejor, también es clave para alcanzar la felicidad y todas tus metas. 

Always try to be happy and keep your expectations high. To achieve this, my secret is not to force myself to fulfill things that I don't like and try to see the positive side of any situation. Today I can tell you that being surrounded by positive people who always seek to give the best, is also key to achieving happiness and all your goals.

Te invito a celebrar todos tus triunfos y tus nuevos principios porque cada día nuevo no da otra oportunidad de empezar.

¡Feliz domingo, mis amores! Les escribo este post desde LA, a punto de tomar el avión de regreso a la CDMX feliz de enseñarles un poco de mi vida en ambas ciudades. Ya saben que siempre empiezo mi día con un cafecito y haciendo ejercicio pero hoy que me desperté (demasiado temprano por cierto) se me ocurrió hacerles este post porque muchas veces me han preguntado cuáles son mis mejores trucos para editar mis fotos y qué prendas y accesorios funcionan mejor en esta red social.

Hi my loves! I'm writing this post from LA to tell you that I'm about to go back to Mexico City and I love sharing with you part of my daily routine in both cities. You know that I always start my day with a cup of coffee and exercise but today when I woke up (too early btw) it occurred to me to write this because you've asked what are my best tricks to edit my photos and what clothes and accessories are the best for Instagram and Instagram Stories.

FAV BAGS

Por lo general trato de usar bolsas con las que pueda tener las manos libres. Como ya les conté en uno de mis posts pasados, mi favorita del momento es la nueva versión de la Saddle Bag de Dior. En varias de mis historias y fotos también pueden ver otras bolsas que tienen casi las mismas características, son icónicas, atemporales y muy cómodas. 

I usually try to use bags with which I can have my hands free. As I've told you on one of my last posts, my favorite at the moment is the new version of Dior's Saddle Bag. In several of my Instagram Stories and photos you can also see other bags that have almost the same characteristics, they are iconic, timeless and very comfortable to wear and carry around.

SUNGLASSES

Los lentes de sol en lo personal son una de mis piezas preferidas. En un mundo ideal tendría cien pares de diferentes colores, formas y estilos para adaptarlos mis diferentes looks, pero en la realidad, la mayoría de los lentes no son tan accesibles por lo que lo mejor es tener uno o dos pares que vayan perfecto contigo. Algunas de las características que te recomiendo tomar en cuenta cuando quieras un par nuevo son la proporción y la forma. 

Sunglasses are one of my favorite accessories. In an ideal world I would have a hundred pairs in different colors, shapes and styles but in reality, most of them aren't so accessible so it is best to have one or two pairs that go perfectly with your style. Some of the things in which you should focus on when you want a new pair are the shape and size.

ACTIVEWEAR

Soy fan de la ropa para hacer ejercicio. Podría usarla todo el día. Se me hace increíble que las marcas tengan tantas opciones cool con las que puedas ir por un café antes o después, sin dejar de verte bien. 

I love active wear. I could use it all day. It's amazing that many brands have so many cool options with which you can go for a coffee and still look good.

+ ACCESSORIES

Si hay algo que me encanta hacer es jugar con las texturas, los colores y los accesorios. En la moda no existe una forma correcta de vestirse, por lo que siempre elijo divertirme y definir mi propio estilo con los complementos que mejor van con mi personalidad.  ¡No le tengan miedo al cambio!

I really like playing with textures, colors and accessories. In fashion there are no rules so I always choose to have fun and define my own style with the accessories that best fit my personality. Do not be afraid of change!

TOPS & JEANS

Amooooo los jeans. De verdad no sé qué haría sin ellos. Soy tan fan, que hasta tengo 2 pares igualitos jajaja. Una fórmula infalible de moda es un top cool con una prenda de mezclilla. ¡Te verás impecable!

I can't live without my jeans. Use them with is a cool top to look chill and relaxed at the same time!

¡Las mil razones para decirle sí al pelo corto!

¡Feliz miércoles, mis amores! Estoy en Los Ángeles y desde hace mucho quería cortarme el pelo otra vez. Tengo que aceptar que la primera vez que me hice un cambio radical de look hace poquito sí me costó trabajo decidir entre dejarme el pelo largo o no. Coco Chanel decía que cuando una mujer se corta el pelo, está por cambiar su vida y no sé ustedes pero yo volvía a recurrir a las manos mágicas de Sal Salcedo, uno de mis hair stylists favoritos en esta ciudad para disfrutar del verano sin preocuparme por cuidarme el pelo o tener que peinarlo diario. Si tú también quieres cambiar por un tiempo, 100% te recomiendo que te atrevas a hacerlo. Para motivarte, te dejo algunas de las muchas razones para decirle sí al pelo corto.

Happy Wednesday my loves! I'm currently in LA and for a long time now I've been wanting to get a little trim for my hair. I have to say that the first time I cut it short recently was really nervous and was indecisive whether to do it or not. Coco Chanel once said that a woman who cut her hair was about to change her life forever and I don't know about you but me being taken care of Sal Salcedo's magic hands was one of the best experiences ever. He is my favorite hair stylist in LA and I need to be in his chair soon so I can enjoy the rest of the summer and not worry about my hair or having to get it done every day. If you've been meaning to change your hair style for a while now I totally recommend going short. To motivate you even more I'll leave you some reasons to dare yourself and do it.

Suena medio a cliché pero es verdad. A mí me sorprendió lo rápido que me creció (literal fue de un día para otro). Además me fascina lo sano que se ve.

It grows back 

I know it sound like a cliché, but it’s true. I was surprised at how quickly it grew back (I literally saw the difference from one day to the next). I also love how healthy it looks!

Te da poder

No te puedo explicar la adrenalina que me da cada vez que me siento en la silla del salón sabiendo que me van a cortar algunas pulgadas de pelo. Todos los cambios son buenos, me llenan de energía y este definitivamente es de mis favoritos.

It’s empowering

There’s something adrenaline-boosting about sitting in the salon chair knowing that you’ll loose inches of hair. Sometimes changing a few things is good for you  and this is definitely one of my favorites.

 Es muy emocionante y divertido

Nada más aburrido que tener el mismo estilo que todo el mundo. Cada vez que te cortes el pelo vas a sentirte súper feliz de tu decisión –siempre y cuando lo hagas con un profesional–, sabiendo que te ves igual de increíble que antes. ¡No tengas miedo!

Sometimes having the same style as everyone else can be super-boring. Every time you cut your hair you will feel happy about your decision (as long as you do it with a pro) knowing that you look. Don’t be afraid!

Shorter hair might be harder to style, especially since longer hair can be braided or thrown up into a ponytail but there is always that feeling of freedom. In less than a week you’ll get used to your new style. If you don’t know how to comb it, ask for some tips to your hair stylist.

¡Bye, calor! Seamos honestos, a casi nadie le gusta el pelo largo en la playa o en lugares de calor. A mi me fascina llevar el pelo suelto y es más fácil cuando está cortito porque da menos calor. ¡Inténtalo!

Let's be honest here, no one enjoys dealing with their hair in summertime, Short hair doesn't give you that same discomfort. I love wearing my hair loose and it’s easier when it is short because it creates less heat. Try it!

El secreto para transmitir confianza con la ropa que usas

¡Hola mis amores! Como ya les he contado, cuando empecé con mi blog y hasta el día de hoy, no todo ha sido fácil. Sobre todo al principio porque a veces no sabía si mis looks iban a gustarles o no. Seguramente a ti también te ha pasado que eliges un outfit que te encanta y te sientes invencible. Con el paso del tiempo, te das cuenta que cuando hablamos de moda, no hay nada más importante que la seguridad. Un outfit luce completamente diferente cuando te sientes bien con él y eso se refleja. 

Hello my loves! As you may know already, it wasn’t easy when I started in the fashion and blogging world. Especially at the beginning because sometimes I didn't know if you like my looks... or not. Maybe you’ve experienced just like me that some days you choose and outfit that you love and you feel invincible and ypu must know that, as time goes by, you learn that there is nothing more important than confidence. A look may be completely different when you feel good in it.

Este domingo les hice esta pequeña guía con mucho amor pensando en todo lo que yo he aprendido a lo largo de los años. Son algunas formas diferentes de lucir tu fashionista interno. Pónganlos en práctica para aprender día a día a amarse y a disfrutar con todo lo que se pongan.

I made you this guide with love and thinking about what I’ve learnt through the years. There are 3 ways to bring out the fashionista that lives inside you. Remember to practice and love yourself every day.

1.    Acepta el pasado.

Que no te de pena tu época de rebeldía en la pubertad cuando usabas wetlook en el pelo y te amarrabas listones en lugar de usar cinturón. Recuerda que tenías tus razones y tus motivos, así que acéptalos y deja de negarlo. No tengas miedo a lo que la gente va a pensar de ti. 

1.    Accept the past.  

Don’t be ashamed of that time when you were a teenager and you wore wetlook in your hair and tied your ribbons instead of using a belt. Remember that you had your reasons, so embrace it. Don't be afraid of what others may think about you.

2.    Usa lo que elijas con orgullo.

Puede que hayas salido corriendo en la mañana y te pusiste lo primero que encontraste: unos jeans y una playera blanca. Aunque a veces dudes de tu elección, ¡ignora a todos! Muchas veces, menos es más y entre más sencillo sea, mejor. 

2.    Never look down!

Maybe you were running in the morning so you took your jeans and a white tee. Although sometimes you doubt your choice, ignore everyone! Many times, less is more and the simpler the better.

3.    Piensa en lo que le estás dejándole al mundo

Piensa esto: El mundo te necesita a ti y a tu estilo. Eres un ser lleno de luz, inspiración y creatividad. Que no te dé pena lucir lo que tú piensas que se ve bien y sobre todo, que te encanta. Disfruta tu ropa y disfruta tu cuerpo.

3.    Think about what you are leaving in this world

Remember: the world needs you and your style. You are a beam of light, inspiration and creativity. Don’t feel ashamed of wearing what you think looks great specially if you love it. Enjoy your clothes and your body!

La lección más importante de estilo que he aprendido es que la verdadera confianza no se hace de la noche a la mañana, pero tienes que empezar a formarla desde tu interior para que se vuelva de acero inquebrantable. Para empezar, debes aprender a amar tu cuerpo, a cuidarlo, a comer bien, a hacer ejercicio y más para mantenerlo saludable. Una vez que aprendas a amar y a aceptar tu cuerpo tal y como es, entonces podrás empezar a amar lo que luces en él. El proceso no puede ser al revés. Si amas lo que ves por fuera pero no estás contenta con lo que hay en el interior, llegará un momento en que esa armadura se va a romper. 

The most important lesson I’ve learned is that true confidence doesn’t come just like that, it should start inside so it becomes a part of who you are. For starters, you should learn to love your body, take care of it, eat healthy and exercise often. Once you learn to love yourself, you will love what you are wearing never the other way around.

Las cosas que me arrepiento de haber llevado en mi maleta

¡Feliz viernes, mis amores! Seguramente a ustedes también les ha pasado que por la emoción de viajar y conocer un lugar nuevo, llevan en su maleta mil cosas innecesarias pensando que las van a usar en algún momento. Hoy les hice una lista con todo eso que me arrepiento de haber cargado (y por lo que he pagado sobrepeso muchas veces) para que se acuerden de mí antes de empacar o de caer en la tentación de llevar extras.

Happy Friday, my loves! We often carry in our suitcases a million unnecessary things thinking that we will use them. Today I made a list with all the things that I regret packing so you can remember this before packing and carrying extra weight.

Un outfit 100% diferente para cada día

Me acuerdo que en mis primeros viajes llevaba hasta tres maletas con muchos jeans, faldas, playeritas, chamarras, bolsas y obvio zapatos porque me negaba a repetir jajaja. Hoy les puedo decir que lo más práctico es escoger prendas clave y planear tus outfits a partir de ellas con esos básicos que no ocupan tanto espacio y que se ven bien sin importar la hora del día.

Más de dos pares de jeans

Ya saben que no puedo vivir sin ellos pero a veces pueden convertirse en un problema porque pesan y ocupan mucho espacio. Te recomiendo escoger dos pares que te encanten y además meter complementos según el clima como faldas o shorts. 

Excessive amounts of denim

You already know that I can't live without my jeans but sometimes they can become a problem because they take up a lot of space, even when folded tightly. Choose two pairs at the most and pack pieces according to the weather like skirts or shorts.

Zapatos

No hay nada peor que llevar de más o que te falte un par. Este accesorio es de las cosas más importantes porque determina si estás cómodo durante el día o no. Yo casi siempre meto unos tenis blancos, unas botitas cómodas, chanclitas y unos tacones. 

There is nothing worse than carrying that extra weight or missing a pair. This accessory is one of the most important things because it is the starting point to being comfortable all day. I almost always pack white sneakers, comfortable boots, sandals and a pair of heels.

Secadora del pelo

Me da risa acordarme de la vez que llevaba en la maleta secadora del pelo, plancha, tenaza y mil productos de belleza. Cuando llegué al lugar de mi viaje literalmente ocupaban todo el baño jaja. Hoy lo único que llevo en la maleta es una tenaza y un producto para el frizz.

It's funny to remember that one time I packed a hair dryer, an iron, a curling iron and lots of beauty products. Today the only thing that I carry in my suitcase is a curling iron and a product for frizzy hair. 

Libros y revistas

Es típico que cuando vamos a la playa o estamos en el avión horas llevamos no una sino muchas revistas o libros para entretenernos. Antes los guardaba en mi maleta de mano pero después descubrí que cuando estoy en el aeropuerto, siempre encuentro alguno nuevo para leer. Desde entonces ya no cargo tanto y escojo nada más una revista que me guste en el momento. 

Books and magazines

When I go to the beach or spend long hours on a flight I tend to carry magazines and books to keep me entertained. I used to keep them in my carry-on but lately I discovered that when I'm at the airport, I always find a new one to read.

Los mantras de moda que rigen mi vida

Feliz martes, mis amores. ¡Por fin estoy en México! Ya extrañaba estar cerquita de ustedes. Muchas veces me han preguntado cómo se puede tener un estilo propio y definido. Creo que para lograr looks increíbles lo primero que se necesita es seguridad. Nunca olviden que si nos sentimos bien, ¡lo reflejamos en automático! 

Happy Tuesday, my loves. I'm finally back in Mexico City! On several occasions  you've asked me through social media how to build up your own style. I think that to achieve this the first thing that you need is self confidence. Never forget that if we feel good, we look good!

El estilo no depende del tipo de cuerpo. Cada silueta es única y todas tienen sus virtudes. No necesitas tener un tipo en específico para ser un referente en moda. El secreto está en saber qué funciona mejor para ti y usar ese conocimiento para escoger las prendas y los accesorios adecuados.

It's not about your type of body. To dress correctly we must know our body and we should be able to figure out what works for your shape and use what you've got to your advantage.

Llevar nuevas tendencias no significa exceder tu presupuesto. La forma en la que armes tus looks es mucho más importante que cuánto vale cada pieza y de qué marca es. Cuando vayas de shopping, te recomiendo buscar en todas las tiendas antes de comprar. De esta forma podrás comparar precios e invertir en lo que vale la pena. 

It's not about budget. How you put your clothes together matters much more than how much you pay for them. Look in all kind of stores before buying, that way you can compare prices and invest better.

No se trata de cantidad sino de calidad. Obviamente todos hemos caído en la tentación de las rebajas y comprado más de una cosa que no necesitamos. Si tú tienes ropa colgada que nunca has usado, es tiempo de hacer una lista con lo que necesitas realmente para completar tus outfits. Desde que hice la mía, me cambió la vida literalmente jaja. 

It's not about quantity. Almost everyone has bought more than one thing that they don't need when the seasonal sales come. If you have clothes hanging in your closet that you've never used, it's time to make a list of what you really need to complete your outfits. Since I made mine, my life changed literally haha.

Sí existen las piezas centrales. A mí siempre me ha funcionado basar mis looks en piezas clave: una bolsa, unos zapatos o hasta una t-shirt cool. La clave está en armar tu outfit mentalmente y empezar por ese item que será el protagonista. ¡A partir de ahí puedes agregarle todos los elementos y complementos que quieras!

It's about a star piece. Pick any one element to be the star of your look: a cool bag, some shoes or maybe a t-shirt. The secret is to always build your look ahead of time. Start with your star piece and then add the rest!

Asegúrate de tener tus básicos en orden. Y limpios jajaja. Típico que tienes una cena y quieres usar esos jeans que tanto amas pero están sucios... Para mí, valen más las prendas básicas y hasta tener dos de cada una que tener mil cosas que son tan complicadas que no funcionan juntas. 

Get your basics right. It is better to invest in basic clothes and even get two of your favorite pair of jeans in case of emergencies, I'd rather have less articles of clothing than a million things that I won't wear ever or that don't match with anything.

Todo está en la actitud. Te invito a pararte en frente de tu clóset y deshacerte de todas esas cosas que nunca has sabido combinar. ¡Es mejor quedarte con lo que sientes que se te ve bien y lucirlo al máximo!

It's about attitude. Stand in front of your closet and get rid of all those things that you've  never worn or don't know how to mix and match them with other clothes. It is better to stay with what you feel looks good and wear it to the fullest!

Primero lo indispensable: el café. Esta ciudad (igual que yo) se toma este tema muy en serio. Conseguir mi próxima dosis de cafeína mientas caminábamos fue increíble por las miles de opciones deliciosas que encontré.

This city just like me, takes coffee very seriously. Getting my daily dose of caffeine while I was walking was amazing because I found a lot of great coffee shops.

¡No saben la delicia! Además de tener buen café, se especializan en donas, pasteles y helados italianos de mil colores. El lugar está súper cool porque tiene una terraza al aire libre y está abierto desde temprano los 7 días de la semana.

This place is great! Good coffee, Italian cakes and ice cream are some of the delicious things you can find here. It has an outdoor terrace and is open early 7 days a week.

El primer día fuimos a este mirador que es uno de los puntos más conocidos de la ciudad y es famoso por su piso de cristal. Tengo que aceptar que sí sentí un poco de vértigo jajaja pero me divertí. 

It is one of the main attractions of the city and is famous for its glass floor. I have to accept that I did feel a bit nervous, but mainly had fun.

I ate the best BBQ and dessert EVER when we went to the Windy City Smoke Out Festival. 

P.D. Ya descubrí por qué hay palomitas en todos lados... Bueno pues resulta que este snack y los pretzels forman parte de la cultura popular y ha sido tomado como referencia en diferentes países. Muchas familias tienen sus propias recetas y hay de mil sabores. Las mejores que probé tenían queso cheddar jajaja. YUM!

P.S. I finally discovered why they sell popcorn everywhere ... Well it turns out that this snack is part of their popular culture and has been taken as a reference in different countries. Many families have their own recipes and the best ones I ate had cheddar cheese hahaha. YUM!

No soy tan fan de la carne, ya saben que amo el sushi y la pasta pero la que comimos aquí fue la mejor del mundo. La hamburguesa de trufa negra con mantequilla de foie gras, es otra de sus especialidades. De verdad, no me van a quedar mis jeans cuando regrese a México jajaja. 

I'm not such a fan of meat (you know I love sushi) but the one we ate here was the best in the world. The black truffle burger with foie gras butter is another of its most popular dishes.

Si hay algo que me gusta de conocer lugares nuevos, son los restaurantes que tienen comida local. Esta taberna sirve comida rústica y buenos drinks.

Este lugar fue el cierre perfecto de este viaje inolvidable. La comida estuvo perfecta, la vista irreal. ¿Qué más puedo pedir?

As life passes you by we tend to remember the good times we had with our loved ones this is why it's important to live in the moment and doing everything we love with passion and put our hearts into it. I believe that in life there are no mistakes and that everything happens for a reason, what was once a sad or bad moment will later become a life lesson.

¿Por qué algunas prendas van mejor con nuestro cuerpo?

¡Hola mis amores! Les escribí este post antes de irme a Chicago porque fui de shopping y me di cuenta de que algo básico al momento de vestir es saber cuál tu tipo de cuerpo. Conocerlo puede ayudarte muchísimo a escoger ropa y accesorios que es casi seguro que te van a ir bien y a elegir tus outfits todos los días. Cada cuerpo es único y todos tienen virtudes. Mientras estaba comprando lo que me faltaba para el viaje, me puse a analizar los diferentes tipos de cuerpo y las prendas que van o no con ellos. En general, se dividen en estas categorías: 

Hello my loves! I wrote this post before going to Chicago, because suddenly I realized after going shopping, that it is really important to know what your body type is. To dress correctly we must know our body and we should be able to identify which items and accessories go well and which ones don’t. This information will save you some headaches when shopping and will help you choose your outfits with greater confidence. Every body is unique, but there are definitely different categories. Keep reading! 

Triángulo: Los hombros son más pequeños que la cadera.

Lo que tienes te recomiendo hacer es buscar prendas que dirijan la atención a la parte superior de tu cuerpo y disimulen la parte inferior. Por ejemplo, blusitas off the shoulder o con olanes en el cuello, automáticamente equilibran las proporciones.

Triangle: This type of body refers to when your shoulders are smaller than your hips. You must search for some clothes that draw the attention to the upper side of your body. For example, off the shoulder shirts combined with necklaces or other neck accessories will balance it out.

Triángulo invertido: Es cuando los hombros son (mucho) más anchos que la cadera.

Contrario al cuerpo tipo triángulo, lo que debes hacer es llamar la atención a la parte baja de tu cuerpo. Busca jeans con estampados o blusas que se amarren en la parte del ombligo. Usa colores oscuros en tus blusas y chamarras. ¡Llevar tacones ayudará a alargar las piernas!

Upside down triangle: This is for the people that have wider shoulders and narrow hips. You must keep the attention to the lower part of your body. Find jeans with some prints and shirts with elements on the waist. Use dark colors on your shirts and sweaters.

Reloj de arena: Es cuando los hombros y la cadera son casi de las mismas medidas, pero la cintura está perfectamente definida. Los crop tops, jumpsuits y overoles te van perfecto. Los jeans ajustados a la cadera y faldas de corte lápiz dan equilibrio a tu figura.

Hourglass: This is the "ideal" shape, here the shoulders and the hips are in balance with each other and the waist is perfectly determined. Use crop tops, jumpsuits and overalls. Low waist jeans and pencil skirts will compliment your body.

Cuadrado: Tiene las medidas de los hombros y de la cadera parecidas, pero en la parte de la cintura parece que es todo recto. Lo más importante aquí es marcar la cintura. Un buen tip es buscar pantalones high waist, cinturones amarrados a la cintura, moños y blusas tipo peplum.

Square: Your hips and your shoulders are balanced, but you don't have a defined waistline. You may as well focus on your middle part, the waist. Use high waisted jeans, belts and peplum type of blouses.

Si no te identificas con ninguno de los anteriores: Las blusas sueltas y los jeans high waist nos quedan bien a todas. Si vas a elegir entre un escote redondo y uno en V, ¡el segundo es mi opción favorita! 

If you don't identify with any of the above: Loose blouses and high-waisted jeans look good on everyone. If you are going to choose between a round neckline and a V neck, the second is my favorite choice! 

Recuerden que todas somos hermosas y que las prendas pueden ser buenas aliadas para sacarle el máximo provecho a nuestra silueta.

Mis técnicas de rescate para los 'bad hair days'

¡Hola mis amores! Todos hemos tenido algunos días en los que el pelo se empeña en simplemente no querer tomar forma, sobre todo cuando estamos en la playa y en lugares de calor. Estos son los bad hair days y en lo personal, los vivo seguido jaja. Hace poquito hice una encuesta entre mis amigas cercanas y encontré que la mayoría se sienten más seguras cuando el pelo se les ve bien. Todas ellas también coincidieron en que entre el trabajo y lo rápido que pasan los días, es muy poco el tiempo que tenemos para peinarnos.

Hi my loves! We all know the power of good (and bad) hair. A little while ago I did a survey among my close friends and found out that almost all of them feel more confident on a good hair day. They also agreed that between work and how fast the days go by, there is very little time to style our hair.

Si tú también has recurrido a la plancha aún con el pelo mojado en desesperación por verte bien en un día con prisa, te comparto mis técnicas de rescate para que te sea más fácil verte todos los días como te gustaría.

LOW PONYTAIL

Mis favoritas son las que tienen un toque relajado y messy. Siempre acuérdate que el secreto es verte impecable sin expresarlo al 100% jajaja. Si vas a usar este peinado, te recomiendo que dejes algunas secciones sueltas para lograr el efecto que buscas. 

My favorite ones are those that have a messy touch. Always remember that the secret is to look perfect without explicitly showing it hahaha. If you are going to use this hairstyle, leave some sections loose to achieve the effect you are looking for. 

DRY SHAMPOO

Aunque no soy fan de no lavarme el pelo diario, un buen tip para mantenerte impecable si no tienes tiempo, es usar shampoo en seco. Este beauty item va directo a tus raíces y les da volumen. 

I'm not a fan of not washing my hair every day but a good tip to stay impeccable if you don't have time, is to use dry shampoo. This beauty item goes directly to your roots!

HAIR ACCESSORIES

Si estás en la playa, los accesorios adecuados para el pelo, van a lograr mantenerlo en orden. Además de evitar el frizz lo proteges del sol. 

If you are on the beach, the hair accessories will keep your hair in shape. Besides avoiding frizz you protect your hair against the sun.

BUN

Últimamente este es uno de mis favoritos porque creo que es ideal para época de calor. Muchos me han pedido que les de el paso a paso para lograrlo pero literalmente lo único que hago es agarrarme todo el pelo, darle una vuelta y amarrarlo con una liga. 

Lately this is one of my favorites because it's perfect for summer. To make my low buns, I grab all my hair, give it a spin and tie it.

72 horas en San Miguel de Allende

¡Bonito inicio de semana mis amores! Les cuento que estuve varios días en San Miguel de Allende, uno de mis lugares favoritos en México. Estoy enamorada de este sitio porque tiene algo especial que ofrecerle a cada persona que lo visita. I spent last weekend in San Miguel de Allende, one of my favorite places in Mexico, and I can tell you that I'm in love with this place because it has something special to offer for everyone who visits. Every time I'm in San Miguel I try to do new things and also return to the places I love like KM 33. Me encantó quedarme en el hotel Hacienda Las Amantes, una antigua finca histórica en la que todos los detalles crean un concepto que mezcla elementos modernos con muebles de diferentes épocas y estilos, así como piezas artesanales que le dan un toque bohemio al lugar.

I loved staying at Hacienda Las Amantes hotel, an old historic building where all the details create a concept that mixes modern elements with vintage furniture as well as handcrafted pieces that give the place a bohemian touch.

WHAT TO DO

Esta es la primera vez que me subo a un globo aerostático en San Miguel y fue una experiencia increíble. La cita fue a las 6 de la mañana (súper temprano pero vale la pena) ya que los globos no pueden volar durante ciertas horas del día por la inestabilidad del aire. Lo que más me gustó de fue poder ver la ciudad desde una perspectiva totalmente diferente. ¡Se los recomiendo mucho!

This was the first time I traveled in a hot air balloon in San Miguel and it was an incredible experience. I had to get up at 6 in the morning (super early but it's worth it) because the balloons can't fly during certain hours of the day. What I liked the most here was being able to see the city from a totally different perspective. You have to do it soon!

¡Hola mis amores! Como ya les he contado antes, me gusta mucho comprar en Zara porque siempre encuentro cosas muy cool que puedo combinar con prendas mucho más high fashion para lograr un look más equilibrado. Otra de las cosas que amo de Zara es que casi siempre encuentro ropa muy dinámica, que si le cambio los accesorios o agrego una chamarra, puedo hacer varios looks diferentes. El hotel Viceroy Los Cabos es uno de mis favoritos por sus vistas irreales, experiencias únicas y porque a cada paso que das, vas descubriendo cosas nuevas. Originalmente creado por el arquitecto mexicano por Miguel Ángel Aragonés y rediseñado por AI/Arquitectura de Interiores, resurge después algunas renovaciones con un diseño inspirado en la belleza natural del agua, lo que es increíble porque estás en contacto con la naturaleza todo el tiempo. Me fascinan sus terrazas, albercas, la playa blanca y la decoración al interior.

The Viceroy Los Cabos hotel is one of my favorites for its unreal views and unique experiences. At each step you take, you discover new things. Originally created by the Mexican architect by Miguel Ángel Aragonés and redesigned by AI/Arquitectura de Interiores, it offers some renovations with a design inspired by the natural beauty of the water resurface, which is amazing because you are in contact with nature all the time. I loved the terraces, pools, the white beach and the decoration inside.

Sus restaurantes, rooftop, spa y más, te ofrecen todo para que no tengas (y no quieras) salir del hotel.

¡Me encantó saber que el famoso entrenador de celebridades Harley Pasternak le imprimió su personalidad al gym! Ya saben que soy fan de visitar y usar esta amenity cada vez que estoy de viaje jajaja.

Its restaurants, rooftop, spa and more, offer you everything so you don't have or want to leave the hotel. I really liked knowing the fact that the gym was specifically curated by celebrity fitness guru Harley Pasternak! You know I'm a fan of visiting and using this amenity every time I'm traveling hahaha.

EAT

La verdad es casi no salí del hotel estos días y lo disfruté mucho porque pude probar varias de sus propuestas gastronómicas que además de ser una delicia, reflejan a la perfección historia y la vibra de Baja California Sur. Estoy enamorada del restaurante Nido que además de ser una de las piezas distintivas del lugar, es literalmente inolvidable por su estructura enrejada tipo nido, que parece flotar en el agua. La propuesta de este lugar va desde un innovador menú de ceviche hasta cócteles artesanales. ¿Lo mejor de todo? La estructura fue elaborada con madera flotante reutilizada por artesanos locales.

The truth is I almost didn't leave the hotel these days and I enjoyed it a lot because I was able to enjoy its gastronomic proposals that besides being delicious, reflect the history and vibes of Baja California Sur to perfection. I'm in love with Nido restaurant, which is one of the distinctive pieces of the place and literally unforgettable because it has a nest-like latticed structure, which seems to float on the water. The dishes that you can find in this place goes from an innovative menu of ceviche to traditional food and artisanal cocktails. The best of all? The structure was made with floating wood reused by local craftsmen.

ENJOY

Las aventuras en Viceroy Los Cabos son muchas, pero las históricas calles coloniales de San José del Cabo también te llamarán la atención. Playa El Médano y Playa Chileno son los lugares más populares. Aquí podrán encontrar restaurantes, bares, tiendas y deportes acuáticos. Más allá de la playa, si lo que buscan un día más relajado, les recomiendo el spa del hotel Viceroy, después de darme un masaje ahí, pude descansar todavía más tomando el sol en la playa. 

The discoveries and experiences at Viceroy Los Cabos are limitless, but the historic colonial streets of San José del Cabo will call. Playa El Médano and Playa Chileno are the most popular places. There you will find restaurants, bars, shops and water sports. Beyond the beach, if you are looking for a more relaxed day, I recommend the Viceroy hotel spa, after giving me a massage there, I could rest even more sunbathing on the beach.

Muchos de ustedes me han preguntado cuáles son mis trucos para hacer mi maleta y les puedo decir que en primer lugar, empacar para ir a la playa es MIL VECES más fácil que empacar para otros destinos porque todo ocupa menos espacio y se acomoda mejor. Un truco que me sirve mucho para no olvidar cosas, es hacer mi maleta pensando exactamente qué bikini o traje de baño voy a usar con qué vestido y qué zapatos para no llevar de más pero tampoco necesitar cosas que no traigo. Siempre que vayan a la playa, no olviden lo importante que es usar bloqueador y protector solar hasta para el pelo. 

First of all, packing to go to the beach is a THOUSAND TIMES easier than packing for other destinations because everything takes up less space and fits better. A trick that helps me a lot so I don't forget things, is to make my suitcase thinking exactly what bikinis, swimsuits, dresses and shoes I plan on wearing. Everytime you go to the beach, don't forget how important it is to use sunscreen and more sunscreen even to protect your hair.

Así es como el estrés afecta tu piel

¡Feliz domingo mis amores! A un día de ser lunes, regresa la sensación de vivir en una ciudad complicada y de a veces tener una agenda que parece infinita (jajaja), por estas y otras razones, es muy fácil sentir estrés casi todos los días. Si no vamos tarde para un compromiso, estamos en deadline para entregar algo, o simplemente caemos en rutinas que nos tienen estresados de solo pensarlo.

Hello my loves! We live in a big city and sometimes it might seem we have infinite schedules (LOL), so, it is easier to feel stress almost everyday. Maybe we are running late for an appointment, or we live in a routine that is very stressful itself.

Este estrés puede tener consecuencias físicas y emocionales en nosotros como insomnio, falta de apetito, angustia, hinchazón y más efectos. Pero, ¿sabías que el estrés tiene una gran influencia en tu piel? Es por eso que de pronto tienes manchas, granos, arrugas o más imperfecciones que parecen no tener explicación de dónde surgieron y esto aumenta de 3 a 6 años tu apariencia de edad. Puedes saber si una persona tuvo una semana pesada si para el viernes tiene ojeras súper marcadas, ojos hinchados y pequeñas líneas (finas arrugas). Se conoce como “envejecimiento por estrés”.

Stress may have physical and emotional consequences in us such as inflammation, lack of appetite and insomnia. But, do you know it also messes up with your skin? This is the main reason sometimes you have dark spots, acne or tiny wrinkles without knowing were they came from. That increases your age in 3 to 6 years. You can guess if someone had a rough week if by Friday she or he has dark spots under their eyes, fluffy eyes and tiny wrinkles. It is known as “stress aging”.

¿Qué tienes que hacer para combatir los efectos del estrés en tu piel?

Duerme por lo menos 7 horas cada noche. Deben de ser de corrido, no cuenta si duermes 3, luego te despiertas una hora y vuelves a dormir otras 4. Come saludable, agrega más verduras a tu dieta. Haz ejercicio (por lo menos 30 minutos al día). No olvides beber mínimo 2 litros de agua al día y trata de cuidar tu piel, por ejemplo, desmaquillándote todas las noches y usando los productos adecuados en tu rutina de belleza.

What we should do to attack the negative effects of stress on our skin?

Sleep at least 7 hours every night. Eat healthy, add more vegetables to your diet. Exercise your body at least 30 minutes everyday. Drink 2 lts of water and take care of yourself and your skin. Don’t forget to remove your makeup every night.

También es importante que cuides tu mente. Puedes desde cantar en el coche cuando vayas manejando y sepas que vas a tardar en llegar o puedes buscar algunas clases de yoga. También hay algunas apps que te pueden ayudar a meditar y a trabajar en tu paz interior.

It is also important to take care of your mind. You can sing in the car when you drive and you know it may take some time to get to your destination. You may also attend yoga. There are many apps that could help you to meditate and work in your inner peace.
