Islas Marietas: a paradise in Riviera Nayarit

So if you think you've seen paradise and you haven't visited #islasmarietas in Riviera Nayarit, you don't know paradise well enough.

Last weekend, I went on a little trip to Riviera Nayarit for a few days. Riviera Nayarit is just a 1- hour flight away from Mexico City (arriving at the Puerto Vallarta Airport), and then a 20 minute ride to the Hotels.

At the beginning of this year, I made a list of some of the places I wanted to visit someday, and the Marieta Islands was one of them. I've only looked at pictures, and from the pictures I knew this place would be paradise.  The Islas Marietas are a couple of islands just a few miles away from shore, that are called home by some endangered bird spieces. With huge rock formations of over 30 or 40 feet, these islands look like fortresses. In fact, I've been told that in the early 50's the mexican army used these islands to practice their bombing skills from planes =(... until the famous Jacques Cousteau came here and alerted the Mexican government about the hundreds of different spieces that lived here.

Surrounded by coral reefs and white sands, the Islas Marietas are an amazing place to dive,  snorkel and paddle board, and if you're lucky enough, the hidden entrance to the "hidden beach" might be available for you to swim through and take a look of this amazing beach. As the Islands are a government-protected place, one must get here with a certified guide and tour, and as they say, "early bird gets the worm"... the sooner you arrive to the island, the better.

So if you're planning your next vacation and you haven´t been to this paradise, add the Islas Marietas to your bucket list. Stay tuned for more pictures and posts about my trip and I wish you a nice week.

Buen martes queridos!!! Espero la semana los esté tratando muy bien. Yo estoy feliz porque ya arrancó el mes de diciembre y es el mes que más me gusta (porque es mi cumple jaja) y porque la temporada navideña me encanta... (ya saben que soy una romántica enamorada). 

Bueno, les cuento que vengo llegando de un viaje por la Riviera de Nayarit. Una zona en la que nunca había estado de mi precioso México y debo decirles que es como el paraíso. Hay mucho material, pero les voy a ir contando poco a poco, primero de uno de los lugares que más tenía ganas de visitar: Islas Marietas

Las Islas Marietas son un grupo de pequeñas islas desahibitadas (por humanos, jaja) a unos cuántos kilómetros de las playas de la Costa de Nayarit. La única manera de llegar a ellas por lancha o barco, y toma unos 15 ó 20 minutos desde la marina. Únicamente guías certificados por el Gobierno Mexicano pueden llevar a turistas a las Islas, ya que las Islas son zona Protegida, ya que son casa de decenas de diferentes aves y algunas, solamente viven aquí.  

Todos los tours, cuentan con actividades como paddle board y snorkel alrededor de las islas, que como tienen arena blanca y arrecifes de coral, tienen unos tonos azules increíbles. Como lo pueden ver en la foto una de sus principales atracciones turísticas es la "Playa Escondida" a la cual solamente se puede llegar nadando a través de un pequeño tunel, y si la marea y las condiciones lo permiten, atravesar la pared de piedra de la isla para llegar a este punto.

Todo aquí es impresionante, las formaciones de piedra que llevan miles de años que tienen unos 15 ó 20 metros de altura y que han salido en películas como la de "Limitless" con Bradley Cooper, el color del agua, la cantidad de vida marina que hay por los arrecifes hacen de este lugar uno de mis favoritos para regresar algún día. Así que si andan planeando sus próximas vacaciones sin duda este es un lugar que recomiendo visiten, y para los que vivimos en México no nos queda nada lejos.
